SIG P229 with Surefire X300

This SIG P229 is my new IDPA gun. It's so cold out here, my hands were stiff and I was fumbling a bit. Cold weather makes everything twice as difficult. The wind didn't help either. The P229 was late to the .40 caliber game because SIG developed it just for that caliber. They then made a 9mm version, but the core gun was a .40. Unlike other guns which were native 9mm pistols and then converted to the larger cartridge. Full length rails aid accuracy and stability of the weapon. The fact that these rails are also polished smooth is one of the reasons the SIG P series handguns are so bloody reliable. Add to that the double wound springs and sturdy construction makes these guns as flawlessly reliable as any autoloading pistol can be. The weapon light is a Surefire X300. This unit uses a high intensity LED for longer battery life and a more focused beam without the hot spots or dark spots of regular bulbs. When it comes to weapon lights - Surefire is the way to go. Surefires are not just flashlights. They engineer their lights specially for weapons usage. That means Recoil tollerance. Other lights can work fine and you think they are the cat's meow... until you start really shooting with them on the weapon and then they go tits up in a hurry. For a fighting pistol - SIG. The SIG P229 is, I believe, used by more Federal Law Enforcement Agencies than any other handgun. There is a reason for that. Pure Excellence.
